Finding beta readers is one of the hardest parts of finishing a novel. You want people who read in your genre, who will actually finish the draft, and who will tell you the truth about what isn't working yet. Unblockifier has a beta reader directory built in, so you don't have to go looking on your own.
Anyone with an Unblockifier for Readers account can opt in as a beta reader. They pick the genres they enjoy, say whether they'd rather read a finished draft or a work in progress, choose a display name, and write a short note about themselves. That's the pool you're searching when you're ready to share your own book.
When your draft is ready for outside eyes, the Publish wizard has a "Share with a Select Group" option built specifically for this. Instead of guessing who might want to read your book, you see beta readers whose tastes match your book's genre, each with their own card, and readers already following your project are marked so you don't send the same invite twice. Pick the people you want and send. Each one gets an email letting them know your book is waiting for them. If someone you'd like feedback from isn't on Unblockifier at all, you can send them a direct link by email instead, no account required.
Feedback gets confusing when chapter twelve changes halfway through a round of reading, so beta reading happens in rounds you control. Everyone you share with lands on the current round and reads the same version of your manuscript, and when you've revised and want a fresh pass, you start a new round yourself. Nobody is moved to a new round without you saying so.
Every round gets its own message board, shared by you and the readers on it. You can pin an intro post, readers can reply, and replies can thread one level deep so an answer stays attached to the question that prompted it. It's a real conversation about your book, in one place, instead of scattered across email and text messages.
A beta reader reads the way your actual audience will read: for story, for pacing, for whether they wanted to keep turning pages. That's a different kind of feedback than a professional edit or a line-by-line critique, and it's the kind that's hardest to get on your own, since asking a friend to read your whole manuscript and give honest notes is a big favor to ask more than once. A pool of readers who already chose your genre, and a tool built around getting their feedback back to you, makes it something you can do for every book, not just the first one.
Joining the directory takes a few minutes. Sign up for a free Unblockifier for Readers account, then in Settings check the box that says you'd like to be invited as a beta reader. Choose the genres you're interested in and the earliest draft stage you're comfortable reading, and add a name and a short note for writers to see. From there, it's passive: you don't go looking for books, they come to you. When a writer in one of your genres is ready to share, you show up as someone they can invite.
Unblockifier Membership is a small, optional, $1.99 a month subscription anyone can choose to support the project with. It doesn't unlock anything extra for the person paying for it. Instead, that revenue goes into a pool meant to compensate the writers and beta readers who make Unblockifier's ecosystem work in the first place.
This part is new and still growing, not a mature, fully worked-out payment system yet. We wanted to say plainly what the intent is rather than wait until every detail is settled: as more people become members, more of that revenue is there to go back to the readers and writers actually doing the work.
