AI Tools for Writers

None of these tools will ever write your prose for you. Every one of them reads what you've already written and hands something back for you to look at: a scan to review, a note to accept or ignore, an answer to a question. The words on the page stay yours, always. It's the rule we built every one of these tools around.

Unblockifier has the most advanced, wide ranging set of AI tools built for the writing process of any tool out there. Most AI writing apps give you one button that generates paragraphs. We built a whole set of tools instead, each one aimed at a different part of actually finishing a novel: keeping track of your story, catching what you've missed, and getting a second opinion when you want one.

Finding your story's elements

Story Elements scans a finished draft and proposes the characters, locations, and other elements it found in the manuscript. Nothing gets added to your project automatically. You look over each one it found and accept it, ignore it, or merge it into something you already have, one at a time.

Character Journey

The Character Journey map lays out what every character does, chapter by chapter, across your whole book. It's the fastest way to notice you've forgotten about somebody for two hundred pages, or that a character's arc goes quiet right when it should be building.

Character and Location Descriptions

For any character or location whose description is thin, this tool reads what you've actually written about them across your manuscript and proposes a description grounded in that, not invented from nothing. You still decide whether to use it.

Pacing Map

A visual map of your book's pacing, scene by scene, so you can see where the story slows down or rushes without having to hold the whole manuscript in your head at once.

Recommended Updates

As you write new scenes, this tool notices when a character or location's details may need updating to stay consistent with what you've just written, and proposes the update. Nothing is written into your story bible until you say so.

Editorial Review

A full read of your manuscript, written back to you as a letter from whichever kind of reader you choose. Gentle & Encouraging leads with what's working before it raises anything gently. Working Editor is plain and direct, no cushioning. Demanding Mentor pushes you toward the writer you're becoming, not the one you were. Brutally Honest Literary Agent tells you exactly where a professional reader would stop, and doesn't soften it. You pick the voice you need for that pass, then choose a Comprehensive Review of the whole manuscript or a Targeted Micro-Review scoped to just a couple of specific things, like whether the hard science holds up.

Alongside the voice, you also choose which genre's expertise reads the manuscript. It starts out matching whatever genre you've already set for your book, from the same list of genres you chose it from, so the editor judges your fantasy novel like a fantasy editor would. Change it for just that one review if you want a different lens, useful if you're not sure which category the book fits, or you want to see how an editor in another genre entirely would react to it.

The scene assistant

A chat box sits right beside your manuscript while you write. Ask it a question about the scene in front of you, whether something contradicts an earlier chapter, whether a character would really say that. It answers, and it can offer a light suggestion. It does not write the scene for you. Every version of it has followed that one rule since the first, because a chat box sitting right next to the page is the easiest place in the whole app for that rule to slip.

Read Aloud

Turn on narration and any scene can be read back to you in a voice you choose, so you can hear your own writing instead of only reading it. A reading only gets remade when the prose actually changes or you pick a different voice, so an untouched scene always plays the version you already heard.

No membership is required to use any of these during the beta. Every one of them draws on a monthly AI allowance that comes with your account, so there's never a separate API key to manage or a surprise bill. Cost is logged every time a tool runs, so it's never a mystery either.
